Tuesday 29th March, 2011 will be the 30th anniversary of the death of the first Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago, the Right Honourable Dr Eric Eustace Williams TC. Dr Williams not only led the nation to independence, but as scholar and politician helped to mould the lives and destinies of many of us.
A number of T&T nationals resident in the United Kingdom wish to commemorate this anniversary, and extend this invitation to others to participate by supporting the inititaive, being present at the celebratory event and donating services and/or contributions to the costs of staging the event.
The commemoration will celebrate his life and achievements, with personal and video tributes invited from individuals and organisations. There will be readings from his writings and performances from T&T artists.
This initiative is currently supported by the British Association of Calypsonians and Miss T&T Beauty Pageant UK. The High Commissioner of T&T in the UK, His Excellency Mr Garvin Nicholas, will be invited as a special guest.
