Curfew Lifted in Trinidad

The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, The Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, has announced that the curfew, which was implemented on Monday 22 August 2011, has been lifted.

However, the State of Emergency (SOE), which was officially declared on the same day, will remain until further notice. Since the implementation of the SOE and the curfew, many, including the business fraternity, have called on the Prime Minister and her government to reconsider and revisit the decision. Many are now breathing a sigh of relief as they are now able to readjust to what they consider regular life, without curfew; however, they have to remain vigilant, as the State of Emergence will remain until the review date in early December.
