Jamboulay Carnival Arts Promotion (JCAP) operates as a voluntary Non-profit organization (JCAP) was established in 1996 to promote the art of Carnival and the cultural richness of the Caribbean to the wider community in Britain through parades, exhibitions, performances and workshops (JCAP) is an active member of the Local arts network and Carnival Cluster group (CAD-net). Our training projects are based on members desire to express themselves through the cultural context of Costume making, dance and carnival parades. Jamboulay has organised and delivered workshops on all elements of carnival including Design skills and Creativity and participated in national and regional carnivals. More recently, Jamboulay has hosted small exhibitions of its recent works and performances, organizing out reach projects to the local community including community clubs, schools, Hackney Summer University, Summer Arts project,
Carnival Costumes are a reflection of those historical characters in keeping with the name ‘Jamboulay’ which was evolved from the theme ‘Carnboulay,’ (burning of the canes during the slavery emancipation period). |
