Born on the 21st June 1987 to parents Stephen and Angela Isaac, Guidance from a very tender age appeared to be musically inclined with his comical singing for food at just six months and constant drumming on any furniture that could return a sound from age one (1) through two (2), all these years the singing grew louder and more pronounced. Being the last of three boys raised in a single parent home from the tender age of three months, extended family support became a constant feature of his early years. Guidance's first real taste of the stage came at just three years at his preparatory graduation, a rendition of Michael Jackson's heal the world still rings in the ears of past teachers.
Throughout the years the singing grew more structured and by age nine (9) Guidance was already composing music. It was while attending Arima Boys RC Primary School that further interest in the arts was developed and it was absolutely clear by his involvement in both school and church choirs that his passion for singing was evolving in to a love. His first competitive performance was in standard five (5) where along with a collaboration with class mate Keron Dedier, Guidance copped first place in the school's annual calypso competition.
That year it was on to secondary school and at Holy Cross College he did not fail to disappoint competing in five consecutive annual school calypso competitions and placing in either positions one (1) through three (3) consistently, in very keenly contested competitions. Throughout secondary school life Guidance was moulded in to a more holistically developed individual, representing the college in athletics, football, cricket, basketball, scrabble, public speaking and also if not more significantly receiving the Prime Ministers Award for inventing an educational game in 2004. On exiting college in 2005 Guidance topped the school in English, History and Principles of Business and gained a full certificate with seven (7) passes with three (3) distinctions. In an effort to give back to an institution that had shown him so much, Guidance was assistant coach to the schools U15 football team that won the national title that year with many of the players going on to represent Trinidad and Tobago at national junior and now senior level.
Entering in to the world of work at Republic Bank Limited in 2005 guidance quickly picked up where he left off and was involved in several staff activities to numerous to mention individually, however more significantly the musical ability was becoming more mature and every staff competition he entered he won both regionally and locally from 2005-2007. Guidance first professional recording came in 2006 however with a arsenal of over 30 demos and 300 written songs many questioned why only one, the major issue was finance because by this time he was living on his own. Nonetheless Guidance soldiered on and entered Synergy Soca Star placing 6th in the finals with a collaboration with Cindy Alleyne and Crystal Charles in 2006.
Several competitions followed from Sound Stage to Soca Monarch Semi-finals in 2007 with a collaboration with Mark Brown (Secret Admirer). A bit disappointed to not make the finals guidance decided to refocus and began his degree in Business Management at The University of the West Indies in 2008.
Life was moving and so was Guidance he got married to Amanda Grant in December 2008 and after a year of writing and finding himself as an artist Guidance returned with a bang in 2010. He auditioned and was successful to sing at the prestigious Klassic Ruso Calypso tent with the likes of calypso veterans like Allrounder, Luta, Black sage and Lingo, nightly encores were always in order for his social commentary composition( My Wounded Nation) a song that won him many awards. 2010 was particularly successful for him in that he won The Star of Tomorrow Competition placed third at the Young Kings Calypso Competition and had a host of other top finishes ,so confident had he become that he even place second in an Extempo competition, bettered only by the famous Fireball an area he had attempted for the first time. Guidance went on to claim an award from The National Youth Action Committee for best young songwriter/arranger in 2010. The year 2011 promises great things with Guidance who intends to release four song two calypso's and two soca's the first carded to release on the 23rd December 2010 entitled Carnival Hunters.
As at today 6th December 2010 Guidance has already booked his place in the Klassic Ruso Tent for 2011 and by all indicators promises to be a force to be reckoned with at the Young Kings Calypso competition. With new drive and focus not only as an artiste but as a husband and newly made father Guidance looks forward to a productive and successful 2011 and beyond.
