Event Details

Windrush Food Culture is a journey of exploration into how the Windrush Generation brought not only their flavours, but their memory, resilience, cultural creativity, and techniques to post-war Britain. It traces the journey of food as comfort, survival, celebration, resistance, and sustenance.

The Caribbean kitchen began long before Windrush. Its flavours were born from Indigenous communities with rich cultural traditions. The Windrush Food journey is a melting pot which emerges from brutal, colonial, African enslavement which blended with cultures from the subsequent waves of indentured migration to the region that left indelible marks.
