Caribbean flavours are set to reach even more UK dinner tables this month as supermarket giant Aldi expands its partnership with Caribbean-owned food brand Flake Bake, introducing two new Jamaican-inspired ready meals nationwide.
The launch marks another milestone for the London-based family business founded by father-and-son team Paul Williams and Mike Williams, whose Jamaican patties became a breakout success after winning Channel 4’s Aldi’s Next Big Thing. The products quickly proved popular with shoppers, helping to raise the profile of Caribbean food within the UK’s mainstream supermarket sector.
Available from 16 September, the new range features Jerk BBQ Chicken with Rice & Peas and BBQ Beef with Sweet Potato Mash, both priced at £3.99. Inspired by traditional Jamaican flavours, the meals include ingredients such as Scotch bonnet, thyme, pimento, garlic and ginger.
For many Caribbean entrepreneurs, securing nationwide supermarket distribution remains a significant achievement, making Flake Bake’s continued growth an encouraging success story for Caribbean-owned businesses in Britain. The new ready meals build on the popularity of the company’s existing Jamaican Beef Patty and Jamaican Chicken Patty, which are already available in Aldi stores.
Speaking about the launch, Mike Williams said the company had worked hard to capture authentic Caribbean flavours while making them accessible to shoppers looking for convenient meal options.
As Caribbean cuisine continues to gain visibility across Britain’s food landscape, Flake Bake’s latest expansion represents another positive step for Jamaican food in the mainstream retail market.
