Calypso Rose received a special honour on Saturday 11 July 2026 during the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute’s (CCCADI) 50th anniversary celebrations at Josie Robertson Plaza, Lincoln Center, New York.
The Trinidadian singer, best known for Leave Me Alone and Fire in Me Wire, was recognised for her decades-long contribution to Caribbean music and her enduring influence on carnival culture worldwide. As part of the ceremony, CCCADI bestowed upon her the title Queen of the Road.
Despite performing from a wheelchair, Rose shared the stage with soca star Machel Montano and delivered a memorable performance that was warmly received by the audience.
Speaking after accepting the award, Rose expressed her gratitude to CCCADI for the recognition and reaffirmed her commitment to using music as a source of encouragement and inspiration.
The honour adds to a long list of accolades celebrating Rose’s remarkable career and lasting impact on Caribbean music and culture.
