East Midlands Caribbean Carnival Arts Network (EMCCAN) is the umbrella organisation for Derby, Leicester, Northampton and Nottingham carnivals. Although full details of all events are not available right now we are able to share details of the dates and routes.

The East Midlands carnival season gets underway this month as Northampton Carnival returns to the road today Saturday 12 June. Its theme, Summer of Jubilation, was chosen to give hope and the opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate! Saturday 12 June from 12.00 noon until 7.30pm. Derby Caribbean Carnival takes place on Sunday 17 July, with a carnival parade from the city centre to Osmaston Park. Our Culture, Our Roots is the theme of Leicester Caribbean Carnival, which takes place on Saturday 6 August. This is one of the largest in the region – in the past, crowds have been estimated at 80,000. The event starts with the official opening ceremony at 12 noon on Granville Road. After that, the parade runs from Victoria Park to the city centre and back to the park, where there will be a full line-up of activities for carnival-goers. Additional details are promised soon. Nottingham Caribbean Carnival returns on Sunday 21 August at Victoria Embankment. Since 1999 it has been organised by Nottingham Carnival Trust, based at Tuntum Housing Association. The event has something for everyone and comprises live performances from the main stage, a carnival parade, music tents, workshops, stalls and a funfair.
