In just a few weeks, the streets of West London will come alive as Notting Hill Carnival celebrates its 60th Anniversary. Six decades of culture, creativity, music and masquerade have created an extraordinary legacy, and this August, MASQ by Naitram, in collaboration with ABIR Mas, is proud to become part of its next chapter.
Every MASQ has a Story is about celebrating where Carnival has come from while bringing a fresh energy and experience to the road.
Their Carnival Monday presentation, UNLEASH, takes inspiration from Caribbean folklore through Anansi, Mama D’Lo and Mama Sally, but the story goes beyond the costumes. UNLEASH is about freedom, self-expression and unleashing your spirit on the road. Leaving the everyday behind, embracing the energy of Carnival and becoming part of something bigger.
MASQ was created to bring people together. Carnival veterans alongside first-time masqueraders. Caribbean communities alongside those discovering the culture. Different generations sharing the same road, music and experience. As Notting Hill Carnival reaches sixty years, that feels particularly important.
Carnival has never stood still. It has evolved through generations while retaining the culture, community and creativity at its heart. Our philosophy, Legacy in Motion, celebrates exactly that: respecting what came before while creating space for what comes next.
Now, after months of planning, designing and building, there are only a few weeks left until MASQ takes to the streets.
