In August 2024, St. Kitts will welcome the vibe and excitement of the annual Caribbean Premier League T20 (CPLT20) cricket tournament from 23 to 27 August. This is an annual event in the island’s calendar. It brings together cricket and sporting enthusiasts from around the world and rounds out the island’s “Summer of Fun” events, which begin in June each year.
Founded in 2013, the CPLT20 sees six teams – St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Jamaica Tallawahs, Barbados Royals, Saint Lucia Kings, Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors – battle for the region’s championship title. Matches take place in various stadiums across the region. This year, the St. Kitts fixtures are confirmed for 23 – 27 August at Warner Park in Basseterre, one of the host venues of the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
Each CPLT20 squad includes a selection of players with international caps. In 2023, such players in the St. Kitts & Nevis team included captain Ervin Lewis, Sherfane Rutherford, Dominic Drakes, Andre Fletcher, Joshua Da Silva, Sheldon Cottrell and Oshane Thomas.
In 2024, the St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots will be looking to repeat their 2021 performance and be crowned the tournament champions, for more information on CPLT20, visit cplt20.com.
