Today, St. Kitts and Nevis celebrates its 43rd Independence Day, a time of pride, unity and joy for the twin-island nation. The country became independent from Britain on 19 September 1983, and the day remains a symbol of the strength, resilience and determination of its people.
Each year, Independence Day is marked by a main flag-raising ceremony at Warner Park in Basseterre, alongside a similar event in Charlestown, Nevis. These are followed by a military parade featuring the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force, the police and cadet corps. Across both islands, communities come together for cultural performances, concerts, parades and celebrations that showcase the nation’s rich heritage and vibrant traditions.
Soca News sends warm wishes to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis as they celebrate this important national milestone. May this Independence Day continue to inspire unity, pride and progress for generations to come. Happy 43rd Independence Day!
