With just a few days left to reach their target of US$15,000, producers of Trinidad’s first ‘soca movie’, Queen of Soca, are calling on you to help reach their goal.
Queen of Soca is about the choices we make and the risks we take that determine who we become. It focuses on the struggle and courage of a young black girl in search of adulthood, who hopes to change her life and to make it more meaningful. The film touches on religion, classism, sexuality and the soca industry.
The film stars soca artist Terri Lyons as Olivia, a 25 year old street vendor who must decide whether to give up her role as lead singer in the church choir to pursue her dream of becoming a soca star.
