New Generation Steel Orchestra and Pan Nation Steel Orchestra were crowned joint winners of the UK Small Band Panorama on Sunday 2 August, following an exciting evening of competition at the Arts Depot in North Finchley.
Organised by Just InCarnival Arts and Culture CIC, the second annual event brought together four steel orchestras from across the UK, each showcasing its musical talent and creativity before an enthusiastic audience.
Defending champions New Generation Steel Orchestra retained a share of the title after finishing level on 331 points with Pan Nation Steel Orchestra, resulting in both bands being awarded first place.
Patrons were also treated to guest performances from Kogo Rigault and Triniboi Joocie, while music throughout the evening was provided by DJ Dtee. The event was hosted by Martin Jay, who kept the audience entertained as the results unfolded.
The competition continues to grow in stature and provides an important platform for small steel orchestras within the UK’s vibrant steelpan community. The event follows the successful launch of the competition in 2025, which was created to celebrate and promote small steel orchestras across the country.
The Results are
1st Place: New Generation Steel Orchestra (331 points) and Pan Nation Steel Orchestra (331 points) – joint winners
2nd Place: North Tyneside Steelband (289 points)
3rd Place: Metroknights Steel Orchestra (253.5 points)
