Why do I love carnival? Let me count the ways…
I love carnival because of the incredible buzz you get from chipping through the streets, feeling the freedom of the road.
I love carnival because of the amazement you feel at the artistry, the variety of costumes on display as you walk from band to band and admire the product of all the hard work, time and money that have gone into getting the bands on the road.
I love carnival because it’s that one time of year you meet a plethora of brothers and sisters from another mother, and you just know, no words required.
I love carnival because, no matter what organisers say about the route or the timing, judging points or any other logistics, there’s always going to be time spent idling and waiting while things don’t run smoothly – and it doesn’t matter.
I love carnival because the true spirit of the Caribbean is reflected in these two days that we call Carnival.
In the midst of this season of revelry, Soca News would like to send sincere condolences to the families of Lyn Gabriel and of Lloyd Bedeau.
