Spiritual Shouter Baptist Day is held in Trinidad & Tobago on 30 March, where a public holiday has been in place since 1996. Spiritual Shouter Baptist Liberation Day commemorates the repeal of the repressive Shouter Prohibition Ordinance on the islands, on 30 March, 1951.
Between 1917 and 1951, the law had banned Baptists from practising their religion. They could not erect churches or hold meetings, and anyone found breaking the law was beaten, arrested and jailed.
