Aaliyah Knight crowned Grenada’s National Carnival Queen

Released Date

Grenada’s National Stadium came alive on Thursday 7 August 2025, as hundreds braved wind and rain to witness one of Spicemas’ signature events – the National Carnival Queen Pageant. Seven contestants, representing parishes across Grenada and Carriacou, competed in four categories: swimwear, carnival costume, evening wear, and interviews.

While the evening ran largely smoothly, the talent segment exposed production weaknesses. One act faced a 30-minute delay as stagehands battled the elements to set up props, only for crucial lines in the contestant’s monologue to be lost due to sound issues and low microphone levels.

There were, however, noticeable improvements on last year’s show, with a livelier host and stronger interval performances. Still, long pauses between segments extended the event to over six hours.

In the end, Miss St. John, Aaliyah Knight claimed the crown, impressing judges with her evening gowns and talent performances. First runner-up was Miss St. David, Jelenah Mark, whose carnival costume – designed by a local creator – took first place, alongside her Best Beauty with a Purpose award. Miss St. Patrick, Germaine La Borde, placed second runner-up, winning in swimwear and earning the title Miss Congeniality.

Despite the weather, the audience’s energy never waned, proving the Queen Show remains a beloved Spicemas tradition. For 2026, organisers have the opportunity to elevate the production behind the scenes to match the shine of the women on stage.
