Croydon Sports Arena on Sunday 27 July is the place to be for the 2025 version of this annual event organised by the Guyana UK Social Development Association (GUSDA). First held in 2003, the inspiration behind this offering is to bring together the diverse communities from across the UK Guyanese diaspora and to celebrate their rich cultural heritage as one people.
Attendees can expect traditional Guyanese games such as lime and spoon, sack and piggyback races, in addition to the staple sprint races, mini football and dominoes tournaments and the ever-popular tug of war. With face painting, a bouncy castle, craft stalls, food and drink vendors (and of course music playing throughout the day), there’s something for everyone. The event has an excellent record of attracting intergenerational families for a fun day out.
