CMA proposes a Soca Zone for Notting Hill Carnival 2017

|

The Caribbean Music Association, which governs the DJs who play music on the trucks over the two days of Notting Hill Carnival, have proposed a ‘Soca Zone’ to their members.

The zone would stretch the length of Ladbroke Grove, and would mean that DJs may only play music of the following genres; soca, samba, sega and compas (kompa).

Soca News welcomes ideas like this, but shouldn’t this apply to the entire carnival route? Any DJ (a term used lightly) worth their salt should be doing this anyway. Tell us what you think by emailing your comments to editorial@socanews.com with ‘Soca Zone’ in the subject line.
