The 2025 Top 20 Stars of Gold and Calypso of the Year Awards took place on November 28 2025, at the Government Campus Auditorium in Port of Spain. Organised by the National Action Cultural Committee (NACC), the event featured finalists including Terri Lyons, Singing Sonia, Machel Montano, Full Blown, and others.
Freetown Collective’s Take Me Home was named Calypso of the Year 2025, with Muhammad Muwakil accepting the award. The music video premiered on YouTube on September 24 2025, and has since garnered over 242,000 views. Produced by AdvoKit Productions and XplicitMevon, and written by Muwakil, Lou Lyons, Mevon Soodeen, and Kitwana Israel, the group also has songs such as Smooth Criminal and Love Over Everything. The award was especially meaningful as Take Me Home reached its first anniversary on 29 November 2025.
