Released Date

Trinidadian-born chef Sham Mahabir, founder of Limin’ Southbank, announced another major win for his restaurant. Limin’ received the People’s Choice Award for Restaurant of the Year at the 2025 Be Inclusive Hospitality Awards on Monday 13 October 2025, at Quaglino’s in London, a national event celebrating diversity and inclusion across the UK hospitality industry.

Located at Gabriel’s Wharf on London’s South Bank, Limin’, which started as a pop-up at Old Spitalfields Market, is the only Caribbean restaurant in central London. The win follows its earlier title of Best Caribbean Restaurant in the UK at the UK Caribbean Food and Drink Awards, acknowledging its place as one of the country’s top Caribbean dining spots.

The restaurant has become known for projects like International Doubles Day, Threeways Rum, and the Jerk & Beyond Caribbean Festival.

He described the award as “a powerful testament to the sheer hard work it’s taken – learning to be a chef and a businessman, all the while never losing touch or sight of our heritage and flavours.”

On stage, he dedicated the honour to the Windrush Generation, thanking them for paving the way. Mahabir also expressed gratitude to everyone who voted, adding simply, “We stand incredibly proud of this award and everything it represents.”
