International Soca Monarch Finals – the race is wide open


The International Soca Monarch Finals will take place on Carnival Friday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Port of Spain. In total, 62 competitors took part in the semi-finals, and they were whittled down to 22 contestants.

The 11 contestants in each category will go up against reigning Groovy Monarch Swappi (Marvin Davis), Power Soca Monarch Mr Killa (Hollis Mapp) has withdrawn from the competition. Most are Trinidadian soca performers, but among the finalists are artistes from Saint Vincent & The Grenadines, Barbados and Grenada.

The finals of the International Soca Monarch competition are scheduled for Friday 21 February, better known as Fantastic Friday.
