Machel Montano will be defending his Chutney Soca Monarch title in 2026 under the theme “Our People. Our Culture. Our Music.” Southex announced the event and confirmed Sangeet 106.1FM as the official media partner.
The semifinals will take place on 30 January at Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain. From that show, 25 artists will move on to the final. Around 60 artists have already registered, with a live screening at GM Labs planned for this weekend.
A new category, the Traditional Chutney Soca Monarch, will be added in 2026 alongside the Chutney Soca Monarch and Queen of Chutney Soca titles. Promoter George Singh said the new title honours the music’s original style.
Sangeet 106.1FM brand manager Shareeza Ali said the partnership helps local artists and celebrates the music and culture. The final will be on Sunday 8 February 2026 at Skinner Park, San Fernando, from 4pm to midnight, and entry will be free for the 11th year.
