Released Date

Bouyon, the fast-paced, high-energy sound born in Dominica, continues to surge across the Caribbean, firmly establishing itself as one of the region’s most exciting genres. Rooted in traditional rhythms and driven by digital production, a growing list of artists, including Machel Montano, Skillibeng and Mr Killa, have embraced bouyon. Its rising influence was recently recognised by Billboard, which spotlighted the genre’s growing global reach earlier this year.

Perfectly timed for the 2026 Carnival and soca season, international hitmakers and Caribbean culture ambassadors Major Lazer have stepped into the bouyon arena with their latest single, G.O.A.T. The track features soca powerhouse Bunji Garlin, alongside Major Lazer’s newest standout voice, America Foster. The song blends bouyon’s signature rhythmic urgency with power soca energy and big-room electronic flair.

The G.O.A.T.(Bouyon Mixes) EP is out now on Diplo’s Mad Decent label and includes the original version, first released on Major Lazer’s GYALGEBRA mixtape, along with fresh bouyon remixes from Trinidad’s Precision Productions and Dominica’s Dadamanufakture.

With its relentless tempo, infectious chorus and carnival-ready vibes, G.O.A.T. is shaping up to be a staple across fetes and road marches. The remixes further push the bouyon influence, earning strong support from DJs across the region, including Barbados’ Deejay Puffy, and cementing the track’s place as a true Caribbean crossover anthem.
