The Nevis Culturama Festival 51 Committee officially launched its calendar of activities on Tuesday 20 May at the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park, unveiling the schedule for the island’s premier cultural festival. This year’s celebration carries the theme: “Nevisian Pride! Second to None! Culturama 51!”
Sooty (Halstead Byron) was announced as the festival’s patron during the launch. A dedicated cultural preservationist and former Director of Culture, Byron has been instrumental in promoting Nevisian heritage.
Key stakeholders attended the event, including members of the Nevis Island Administration, cultural ambassadors, and community members. Attendees gathered to witness the festival’s programme’s unveiling and honour Byron’s appointment.
The calendar features a diverse array of events, including soca teasers, cultural showcases, and parades. These activities aim to celebrate and highlight Nevis’s rich cultural traditions, offering both residents and visitors an immersive experience.
The festivities are scheduled to run from Thursday 24 July to Tuesday 5 August providing nearly two months of cultural celebration.
