Today, St. Kitts and Nevis celebrates its 42nd Independence Day, a time of pride, unity, and joy for the twin-island nation. The country became independent from Britain on September 19, 1983, and the day remains a symbol of the strength and determination of its people.
Each year, Independence Day is celebrated with a main flag-raising ceremony at Warner Park in Basseterre, alongside a similar event in Charlestown, Nevis. These are followed by a military parade consisting of the Defence Force, police, and cadets. Across the islands, communities join in with cultural shows, concerts, parades, and traditional foods that reflect the nation’s rich heritage.
Soca News sends warm wishes to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis. May this Independence Day continue to bring unity, pride, and progress. Happy Independence Day!
