Today, Sunday 27 October marks 40 years of independence for the nation of St Vincent and the Grenadines, a former British colony, which became the last of the Caribbean’s Windward Islands to gain independence.

Comprising 32 islands found between Grenada and St. Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines is home to lush, mountainous rainforests and the famous La Soufriere, its 4,000ft tall active volcano.

Soca News wishes all Vincentians a Happy Independence.
