The Government of Saint Lucia has been informed by the UK Government about new visa requirements for Saint Lucian nationals travelling to the UK, including a direct airside transit visa for those transiting through the UK.
Effective 5 March 2026 at 15:00 GMT (11:00 AM AST), this new measure aims to improve border management due to a rise in asylum claims from Saint Lucian visitors. There will be a six-week transition period until 16 April 2026, during which travellers with an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) and bookings made before this change can enter the UK without a visa, provided they arrive before the period ends.
The Government of Saint Lucia acknowledges the concerns this may raise for citizens travelling for various purposes and is engaged in diplomatic discussions with the UK to understand the policy and explore options to maintain travel arrangements. More information on visa procedures and travel requirements will be shared as it becomes available.
