Panectar and its members have stemmed from musicians and friends of Russ Henderson’s original steelband whom began Notting Hill Carnival in 1966. Originally a single pan-round-neck carnival band, since 1998 our intention has always been to get together and have fun at Notting Hill in London with our families to celebrate the true spirit of Carnival that we’d left behind in Trinidad. Since the beginning the band has taken on a life of its own. Friends have come to help and those who had not played the pan for some time took an interest; others who had come from the era when playing the steel pan was not an acceptable pastime arrived at practice wanting - or encouraged - to learn. “Our intention has always been to get together and have fun at Notting Hill in London with our families to celebrate the true spirit of Carnival that we’d left behind in Trinidad.”
