The 37th edition of the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival will take place thisfrom 25 to 27 May 2024. The festival’s organisers, the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival Bandleaders Association (ACCBA), have set up a series of events before the carnival that will showcase the rich artistic culture of the Caribbean.
The ACCBA is expected to hold a press conference on Saturday 13 April at the Westin Hotel in Atlanta, hosted by media personality Wayne Hall. The conference will allow bands to showcase their costumes for the upcoming carnival celebrations.
Children will not be left out of the festival and will have their own carnival on Saturday 11 May at the Historic Fourth Ward Park in Ralph Mcgill Boulevard from 12pm to 7pm, with music provided by the sweet sounds of Panasonic Steel Band.
J’Ouvert will be held on 24 May from 9pm to 4am heralding the dawn of carnival on the 25. This year’s theme is “One Caribbean Carnival, ” emphasising unity and forging an authentic identity. The venue for the festival will be Westside Park.
Attendees can expect performances from a wide range of artists, including Motto, Pumpa, Burning Flames, Teddyson John, Lavaman, Jadel, Problem Child, DJ Cheem, Kiprich, Asa Bantan, Tian Winter, Lil Rick, Kenne Blessin, Trinidad Killer and Squid.
ACCBA President Patricia Tonge Edigin expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s celebrations: “We are thrilled to announce the return of the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival as a unified festival for 2024. This year’s event embodies the spirit of togetherness and celebrates the rich tapestry of Caribbean culture.”
