Carriacou Carnival, commonly known as Kayak Mas is presented this year with the theme, ‘Reminiscing on the past, savouring our moments and creating endless moments of Kayak Mas’.
The 2023 carnival, which launched on 28 October 2022, is returning after two years of Covid-19 imposed hibernation. This year, there will be activities such as the National Carnival Queen Pageant, Soca, Groovy and Calypso Monarch competitions, Fancy Mas parade, J’Ouvert, and Shakespeare Mas parade.
The chair of the Carriacou Carnival Committee, Princess John, said, “The way we celebrate, from Shakespeare Mas to J’Ouvert, is so unique to Carriacou and Petite Martinique.” She described the carnival as, “An explosion of colour, music and originality, with dazzling costumes and unmatched enjoyment for partying.”
Kayak Mas is scheduled for 15 to 22 February 2023.
