The documentary Duvone Stewart: The Man Behind the Music premiered on 7 December 2023 at Shaw Park Cultural Complex in Tobago. The film is about the struggles, triumphs and extraordinary moments of musician, pannist, composer and steelpan arranger Duvone Stewart. Mark Loquan produced it as a three-part series that captures the most formative professional and personal life experiences of Duvone Stewart.
Born in 1976 in Tobago, Duvone has become one of the most successful steelpan arrangers in his home country. He began his career as a soloist and racked up several first-place awards in competitions such as Tobago Music Fest in 1988, San Fernando Music Fest in 1991 and AVM Pan 4 Ever Soloist in 1995.
Duvone began arranging steel bands in the early 2000s and has participated in the National Panorama and International Panorama competitions. He is the only arranger to have won in all categories of the National Panorama, namely Single-pan, Small band, Medium band, and Large band. Duvone has amassed an impressive 28 titles in local, regional, and international Panorama competitions. He has also been awarded Tobago’s Distinguished Award and the Tobago Medal of Honour Gold for Distinguished and Outstanding Service to Tobago in the sphere of Culture.
