The Culturama Committee held a press conference on 25 January at Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park to release the calendar of activities for the 50th edition of Nevis Culturama Festival. The chairman of the committee, Mr. Antonio Liburd, promised to include more privately sponsored events in later versions of the calendar. A second draft of the calendar is expected to be released in February.
This year’s festival will commence on April 12 with the official launch of Culturama and the announcement of senior contestants for Culturama pageants. This event will be held at Charlestown Waterfront.
Some of the festival’s highlights include: the Soca Monarch Semi-Finals, the Senior Kaiso Fiesta, the Opening Ceremony of Culturama 50, Mr. Kool Contest and the Soca Monarch Contest. For a full list of the events visit the Nevis Culturama Festival website.
The culmination of the festival will occur on the 5 August with the Emancipation J’Ouvert Jump Up and the Culturama 50 Street Parade and Last Lap. Applications are still open for those who wish to participate in the numerous competitions.
