Grenada Prime Minister, the Honourable Dickon Mitchell, will be the chief guest at Grenada’s inaugural Prime Minister’s Gala, to be held on Saturday 4 November at ILEC Conference Centre in Fulham, London. The Gala’s theme, ‘Celebrating Grenadian Excellence’, reflects a deep commitment to honouring the remarkable achievements and contributions of Grenadian diaspora communities.
The significance of this diasporic gala is rooted in the principles of Grenadian unity and excellence. As leader of a parliamentary democracy, similar to that in the UK, Grenada’s Prime Minister holds a dual role: he serves as both the Prime Minister of all Grenadians and as the Political Leader of his party, the National Democratic Congress, which emerged victorious in the June 2022 general election. These roles are inherently intertwined, and the Prime Minister cannot separate them.
One of the sponsors of the event is a Nigerian-based NGO called Rebuild Afrika Academy who are raising awareness around their agenda. They will also share their knowledge and experience working to solve social and economic challenges in Africa. The organisation is headed by Prince Samuel Adesegun Egunjobi, under whose leadership the mandate to improve living conditions of Africans has steadily gained momentum.
Mitchell is the keynote speaker at the gala, which will run from 6pm to 1am. Attendees will have the opportunity to take pictures with the prime minister, and to interact with dignitaries and other invited guests over a four-course Grenadian meal. This extraordinary evening will commence with the national anthem, to be sung by Luis Buddy, a third generation Grenadian. There will be a long-awaited performance from Patrick Humphrey, who released a 1974 hit, Island Call, and entertainment will also include performances from Spicezzz d Band, Metronomes Steel Orchestra, Saxman Justyn, and Dj Bones.
