As of April 2026, Kes The Band continues to introduce soca music to new audiences as they prepare for their Roots, Rock, Soca Tour across Europe, North America, and Canada. This expansion follows a year of notable achievements for the band.
Earlier this year, on the final day of Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival, ABC News aired a pre-recorded performance by Kes The Band in New York City. Filmed at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the segment formed part of a Black History Month spotlight. During the feature, lead singer Kees Dieffenthaller explained that soca emerged from emancipation and resistance, emphasising that while many people view Carnival as a party, it is deeply rooted in history and identity..
Kes The Band is known for songs such as Savannah Grass, Jolene, Where Yuh From, and more recently Cocoa Tea and Rum & Coca-Cola. For more than 20 years, the band has taken soca music to audiences around the world. Their sound blends soca with elements of rock, R&B, and soul, and they have collaborated with international artists including Shaggy and Snoop Dogg.
Dieffenthaller also reflected on the band’s humble beginnings, recalling how their journey started with his brother building a drum kit from buckets. He spoke candidly about personal loss and shared how music helped him navigate difficult periods in his life.
