Did you know today is a special day to spread your kindness around?
The World Kindness Movement (WKM) first observed World Kindness Day on 13 November 1998. Since then, the day has become an annual worldwide celebration. Although it is an unofficial holiday, today, 28 countries observe this special day. The host of the event, World Kindness Movement hopes the United Nations will soon recognise the day for international celebration.
According to the World Kindness Movement, an NGO that was officially registered in 2019, “The mission of WKM is to inspire individuals towards greater kindness.” The annual celebration is a special moment to inspire hope and unify the world through random acts of kindness. Many charity organizations take to social media to share tips on how to show random acts of kindness.
This is a very reflective day for many, while others observe the day with concerts, online fundraising activities, and the sharing of “kindness cards.”
Who are you most likely to show kindness to today? Share a smile with a stranger, write a thank you note to show your appreciation, or even donate to support a charity event today.
There will be so much kindness in the world when we all start to spread our kindness around.
