In October calypsonian Explainer (Winston Henry), who recently returned to Trinidad after a 5-week London tour, will release his his album The Best of Explainer.
The 14-track album will include numerous calypso gems including Ras Mas, The Table is Turning, Horsey Horsey, Don’t touch meh ras, Celebration Time, What dey say dey say and Lorraine, one of the 20th Century’s Top 20 calypsoes. The album also boasts two songs: Party with Love and Boss Man.
“We tired of the waving thing. This jump up and wave thing is over, people want to hug up and dance. Party with Love is all about that, it is the tune to hold on and dance to,” Explainer said.
“On the other hand Boss Man is a kinda social commentary. The problems in the world are due to politicians. Everybody wants to be the boss and that can’t happen but they keeping things back fighting over who is ‘the boss man’,” he elaborated.
Explainer, who was the headline act at the London Calypso Tent, performed alongside both local and other Trinidadian artists. The calypsonian, who performed to sold out audiences nightly, was extremely appreciative of his fans who came from all over England to see him perform at various venues.
“This was my first time back in London since 1982 and Londoners showed me so much love. Thanks. I really enjoyed being there and I am looking forward to next year when I am supposed to return. Much thanks to Tiger and the ABC and Yaa staff who made my stay enjoyable,” indicated Explainer.
