Former head of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) Orville London has been appointed Trinidad and Tobago’s High Commissioner to the UK, with immediate effect.
The process of putting in place a new representative began some months ago when the Trinidad government told its UK counterpart of its preferred candidate for the post of High Commissioner.
The announcement was made on Saturday 11 March by Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Dr Keith Rowley at an appreciation function held in Mr London’s honour.
At the event, Mr London was described as stalwart, a man who did his best for Tobago. For 16 years, the audience was told, Mr London had sacrificed much, including time with his family, to be Chief Secretary. Dr Rowley credited Mr London’s success to his willingness to volunteer his services and added that this attitude of volunteerism needs to be fostered in Trinidad and Tobago.
