On Sunday, 11th January 2026, at The Queen’s Hall Car Park in Port of Spain, Mical Teja delivered MAS – THE EXPERIENCE 2026. A plethora of top soca artists graced the stage of this very well-produced show.
I get the feeling that the show may have been running a tad late and some performers had to hurry their sets. This is the only negative, if you could call it a negative, to a show that was loved and appreciated by the public.
Destra looks and sounds fantastic, and it was lovely to see her back on stage this year. Edwin Yearwood flew in from Barbados, and although his time was brief, the General had a ball. I spoke to him hours after the show, and he was still buzzing from the crowd response.
It was great to see artists like Chris Garcia performing a hit that is now 30 years old and the crowd loving it. I am biased when it comes to Ronnie McIntosh, but he proves, time and time again, that he is a master of crowd participation and energy.
Other performers on the night included Kes, Voice, Patrice Roberts, Raymond Ramnarine, Jadel, Coutain, Freetown Collective, Nadia Batson, GBM Nutron, Lyrikal, Vghn, Braveboy, Chromatics, Verrse, Tevin Hartman, Kris Kennedy, Jaiga, Anika Berry & Christo.
Mical Teja is an absolute phenomenon, and our culture is in good hands with the likes of him at the helm. I know he and his team put their heart and soul into producing this show, and whilst it may not be the biggest fete of the season, it will definitely rank among one of the best-produced shows.
I watched this show from the cosy comfort of my living room in London. After a couple of phone calls to Trinidad today, I firmly believe we only got a fraction of the experience the people who were actually at Queen’s Hall had, and, of course, that is to be expected.
Congratulations to Mical Teja and his team for a job well done.
