Released Date

Saturday 30 May saw the return of ACASA for an evening dedicated to Soca and Calypso, bringing a welcome dose of Caribbean culture back to the UK stage.

Held at the Yaa Centre, the event featured performances by Lord Cloak, Dansa, Soca Kidd, Nikie Baby, and ACASA Junior Calypso Monarch Akeera, each delivering sets that reflected the vibrancy and diversity of their genres.

The night also included tributes to two respected figures in the community, the Mighty Tiger (Ashton Moore) and Shabaka Thompson, recognising their lasting contributions.

While attendance was modest, the audience in the building showed genuine appreciation for the performances, creating an intimate and supportive atmosphere throughout the evening.

The return to the Yaa Centre was a nod to the movement’s roots, reinforcing ACASA’s commitment to preserving and promoting Soca and Calypso culture. With this foundation, there is hope that audiences will continue to grow as ACASA builds momentum in the months ahead.
