Barbados has officially launched BiMPay, the Central Bank of Barbados’ national instant payment system, marking a major step forward in the island’s financial services sector.
Rolled out on 12 June 2026, the platform allows users to send and receive money instantly, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The system removes the need for traditional transfer delays, giving individuals and businesses immediate access to funds.
BiMPay also enables seamless transactions across different financial institutions, meaning users do not need to bank with the same provider or share sensitive account details.
The platform supports payments between individuals, businesses and government entities, making it suitable for everyday use, from personal transfers to commercial transactions.
The Central Bank says the initiative forms part of a broader push to modernise Barbados’ payment infrastructure.
Residents and businesses are now being encouraged to adopt BiMPay as the country moves towards faster, more accessible digital payments.
