On Sunday 7 July, pan lovers converged at the SAB Playing Field to support their favourite steel band. Five Steel bands vied for a chance at the Republic Bank Panorama Championship; these bands were:
- Courts Babonneau Steel Orchestra (defending champions)
- Pantastic Muzik Steel Orchestra
- Can-Beats SM Steel Orchestra
- Pantime Steel Orchestra
- Laborie Steel Orchestra
In the end, Courts Babonneau Steel Orchestra was able to defend their title for an eighth time. Performing a selection of the late Jaunty’s We Shall Hop arranged by Allison Marquis.
Pantastic Muzik Steel Orchestra came in second with We Rule by Reasons Orchestra, arranged by Krystal Nestor.
Pantime Steel Orchestra gained third place with Invader’s William Peter arranged by Terrance ‘BJ’ Marcelle.
The next event on the calendar is the King and Queen of the Bands on Monday 8 July, at the SAB Playing Field in Vigie.
