Born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago, Destra Garcia has become one of the world’s leading and most popular female soca artists. She has a career that spans over two decades and numerous titles and awards to her name.
Her latest album Unchained, was released in May this year and features songs such as Crazy Fetters, Fuego, Pump Like Blood, We Run It and Shake The Place, a collaboration with Machel Montano.
The 26th MOBO Awards is scheduled for Wednesday 7 February, at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield. It started in 1996 when British entrepreneur Kanya King CBE set up an organisation called MOBO to recognise the achievements of artists and entertainers in music.
Since its inception, many talented artists, including Damian Marley, Emeli Sande, Jay Z, and Janet Jackson, have graced its stages. It has become one of the major awards shows in Europe, and its sphere has steadily increased to accommodate artists from other parts of the world. The MOBO Awards also recognise achievements in film and television.
