Guyanese by birth but ‘Bajan for life’ recording artist Eddy Grant (Edmond Montague Grant) has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Guyana. On his official fan page, Eddy said, “I’m sure that Vice Chancellor Ivelaw Griffith and his team would have been put through hell in order to issue the honour: I thank them for their fortitude and belief that one such as I am worthy of the award.”
70 year old Grant has to his name tracks such as I Don’t Wanna Dance, Living On The Front Line, Baby Come Back and, probably one of his best known, Electric Avenue.
