Machel Montano has emerged as the 2025 Chutney Soca Monarch after performing his song Pepper Vine in the finals at Skinner Park, San Fernando, on Saturday 1 March. Montano, who performed alongside Drupatee Ramgoonai and Lady Lava, wowed the judges and the audience, clinching the title in his debut appearance in the competition.
This new title adds to Montano’s illustrious career, including six International Soca Monarch wins and ten Road March crowns.
In other categories, the Queen of Chutney title was awarded to Reshma Ramlal, who teamed up with Lil Bits (Shivonne Churche Issacs) for her performance.
Following his energetic and captivating performance, Montano told reporters that a social media post predicting his victory in this year’s Chutney Soca Monarch contest sparked his decision to enter the contest.
