Five Major Events to look out for as Crop Over 2026 approaches

The countdown to Crop Over 2026 is underway as Barbados prepares for another month of music, culture and celebration. Running from Friday 3 July to Tuesday 4 August, the festival will once again showcase the island’s finest calypsonians, soca artists and masqueraders, culminating in Grand Kadooment. Here are five major events and competitions to watch during Barbados’ sweetest summer festival.

Party Monarch Finals
Sun 12 July

The Party Monarch Finals will mark the return of both Sweet Soca and Power Soca categories after a six-year hiatus. The competition remains one of Crop Over’s biggest attractions and provides a major platform for both established and emerging soca artists.

Junior Monarch Finals
Sat 18 July

One of Crop Over’s leading youth development programmes, the Junior Monarch competition gives young calypsonians and soca performers the opportunity to showcase their talent on a national stage. The event has helped nurture several of Barbados’ leading entertainers and remains an important part of the festival calendar.

Soca On De Hill
Sun 26 July

Held at Farley Hill National Park, Soca On De Hill brings together leading local and regional performers for an evening of live entertainment and high-energy soca performances in one of Barbados’ most scenic venues.

Pic-O-De-Crop Finals
Fri 31 July

The Pic-O-De-Crop Finals remains one of the most anticipated events on the Crop Over calendar, bringing together the island’s leading calypsonians in competition for the Calypso Monarch crown. Rooted in social commentary and storytelling, the event provides a platform to address national issues while celebrating Barbadian culture through wit and lyricism.

Grand Kadooment
Mon 3 August

The climax of Crop Over sees thousands of masqueraders parade through the streets of Bridgetown in elaborate costumes before making their way to Spring Garden Highway, bringing Barbados’ premier cultural festival to a colourful and energetic close.
