The calypso/soca fraternity was plunged in to mourning earlier today with the news on the passing of former, twice-crowned Trinidad Calypso Monarch Singing Sandra (Sandra Des Vignes-Millington).
Sandra who was 64, passed last night Wednesday 27 January. She was known and widely regarded as mother to many in the soca/calypso arena, she was also a strong champion for the underprivileged and women.
Her compositions such as Die With My Dignity, Crying, and Voices from The Ghetto have seen her capture two Trinidad Calypso Monarch titles in 1999 and 2003.
