Trinidadian musician Hey Choppi released his latest album, Saga Boy, on 28 July this year. This was a significant milestone for the up-and-coming solo artist, who until 2018 had been part of a music group known as Nebula 868. The album consists of twelve songs, including various collaborations with some of the biggest names in the soca genre such as Nailah Blackman and Machel Montano.
Sean Padmore, better known as Hey Choppi, began his solo career in 2018 under his own production label, Alienation Muzik. In the first two years after leaving Nebula 868 it didn’t occur to the vocally-gifted artist to make a solo album, and instead he channelled his efforts towards releasing singles such as Anchor, Captain, and Siddung. It was not until 2021 that he released his debut album, Love Trip, with the help of producers Brooklyn Descent and Tano.
Hey Choppi’s music is a fusion of several genres, including soca, reggae, hip hop, and pop. His songs are often romantic, expressing the need for genuine relationships. He has had the opportunity to work with some renowned international artists and producers including Major Lazer, Rock City, Aaron Fresh, Eva Shaw, Romeo Miller, and Showtek.

Saga Boy promises to be Hey Choppi’s greatest album yet, with several hit songs like Saga Boy, Gud Gud, New Gyal, and Captain. This most recent accomplishment sets Hey Choppi’s feet firmly in the music scene. With hard work and commitment he is bound to take the soca world by storm.
