The current health pandemic has changed the course of many events this year including Trinidad’s annual Carnival and one of the main competitions in the calendar, The International Soca Monarch (ISM).
The competition this year will be known as The Monarch and will have just one winner. Simon Baptiste, Creative Director for ISM told Loop TT “I think at this time it is really open to those in the country. I would like to open it up to others but it may be a little bit more of a challenge to navigate those waters. Anyone can enter but you have to be in Trinidad,”
There is no semi-final and artist will be asked to submit their entries from Friday 22 January via the ISM website. Ten will be selected for the finals which are scheduled to be held on Fantastic Friday, 12 February.
The show will be broadcast across the region and on other platforms which are yet to be confirmed.
