The 3-day festival, dubbed Kizomba Bachata Affair, will be held in Saint Lucia from Friday 3 to Monday 6 May at the Bay Gardens Hotel in Rodney Bay. The festival will be a space for Kizomba and Bachata enthusiasts to interact and dance with each other and learn from more experienced local and international professionals. It will also feature other music and dance genres, including Semba, Ghetto zouk, Tarraxinha, Urban, Tarraxo, Konpa, Zouk, Afro, Amapiano and Latin.
The festival aspires to create a vibrant atmosphere where participants freely express themselves through dance. Everyone is encouraged to attend including absolute beginners who will gain from 30 hours of guided workshops. It also promises a fun and relaxed holiday in the serene and beautiful Saint Lucian landscape. Extra activities such as excursions, pre-parties, and after-parties will be held.
The event is organised by two passionate dancers who have achieved much in their careers. Natasha Fontenelle, of Saint Lucian heritage, hails from London and has been dancing since childhood. She took up Kizomba 8 years ago and has never looked back.
Lance Glasgow, also from Saint Lucia, had his first significant start in Salsa in college. He used to perform at resorts as part of the first-ever salsa dance group in the country. Lance organised the first Saint Lucian Latin Dance Festival and set up his dance school, Kalani Dance Institute. He is also well-trained in Kizomba and Bachata dances.
