Soca megastar Machel Montano has cemented his place in Carnival history, capturing the 2025 Road March title with his infectious hit Pardy. This latest victory marks his 11th Road March win, tying him with the legendary Aldwyn “Lord Kitchener” Roberts for the most wins in the competition’s history.
Montano’s achievement adds to his already impressive career tally, bringing his total number of titles across various soca and calypso competitions to 21—more than any other artist in Trinidad and Tobago’s history. With this feat, he surpasses the combined accolades of Kitchener and SuperBlue (Austin Lyons), another Carnival icon who boasts ten Road March wins and seven Soca Monarch victories.
Montano’s Pardy dominated the Road March competition, playing 267 times at judging points nationwide on Carnival Monday and Tuesday. Locations included the Queen’s Park Savannah, downtown Port of Spain, and key sites in East Trinidad and San Fernando. The song edged out strong competition from Bunji Garlin (Ian Alvarez), whose tracks Carry It and Thousands placed second and third, with 253 and 22 plays, respectively.
For his win, Montano will receive a cash prize of $250,000 and a bmobile handset with a year-long unlimited plan.
